Helen Marie Rimmer

Helen Marie Rimmer, 88, formerly of Longmont passed away August 15, 2018 at the Namaste Alzheimer Center in Colorado Springs, CO.She was born July 9, 1930 in Owego, New York to Leon Mack and Gertrude (Gillson) Farrington. Helen graduated from Owego High School in 1948.Helen married Zigmund Olkowski in 1950 and they were blessed with five children Victor, Phillip, Stanley, Alicia and Diane. In 1971 she married Howard Dunning and he preceded her in death in 1981. Helen married John ˜Jack' Rimmer on June 6, 1981 and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1994.She lived in many places which include New York, South Carolina, Longmont, CO from 1987 to 1995, Fort Scott, Kansas and back to Colorado. Helen's work career consisted of being a test operator in manufacturing, writing a newspaper column From the Desk of Helen Olkowski, time as a Realtor, and at the age of 75 she returned to school and received training to become a Certified Nurses Aid, following as a dedicated care provider. She had a brief stint in politics, running for the Owego County Clerk.Helen enjoyed traveling, including long drives with Jack; gambling in Cripple Creek and dancing. She was an accomplished artist with painting and drawing.She was devoted to her family. Helen loved taking care of her grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother Glen Farrington and two sisters Shirley Thomas and Donna Atchison.Helen is survived by her children Victor (Kathy) Olkowski of Swenksville, PA; Phillip (Maryanne) Olkowski of Harleysville, PA; Stanley (Vicky) Olkowski of Fort Scott, KS, Alicia (Casey) Littlejohn of Falcon, CO and Diane (Tony) Conner of Castle Rock, CO; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren with #8 on the way, and her sister Joyce Thomas of Florida.Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with a funeral service at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
