Helen J Welch

Helen J. Welch, 89, passed away Thursday August 17, 2017 in Berthoud, Colorado surrounded by her children. Helen was born on July 8, 1928 to Francis and Margaret Young in Paullina, Iowa. She lived many years of her life in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she was a High School English teacher for nearly 40 years. On June 2, 1952 she married Ralph Welch, and together they had three children. Ralph preceded her in death in 2011.

Helen loved to garden and to play Bridge with her many friends. She was a member of the D.A.R. and P.E.O. Helen was a kind and humble woman who you could always go to for understanding. She always had a positive outlook on life, even during her years battling Parkinson’s.

Helen is survived by her three children: Todd (Lori) Welch of Berthoud, Chad (Mary Joe) Welch of Longmont, and Annie (Scott) Blessing of Longmont. She is further survived by her brother Fred (Gayle) Young of Georgia, as well as four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents and older sister.

Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary.
