
Henry P. Wellmann, 87, of Longmont passed away September 25 2015 at his home.He was born March 17, 1928 in Oconto, Nebraska to Henry and Frances (Clemens) Wellmann. He moved with his family to Scottsbluff, NE where he grew up.Henry enlisted in the United States Navy on December 12, 1945 and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1947.He returned to Scottsbluff where he met Eleanor McBride. They were married on October 21, 1948 in a double wedding with Henry's brother Orvile who married Eleanor's sister Jean. They moved to Boulder, CO in 1963 and then to Longmont in 1973.Henry had a love for truck driving, but elected for a career in the newspaper business as a pressman. He worked for the Scottsbluff Star Harold for 12 years, and after moving to Colorado spent 27 years with the Boulder Daily Camera, retiring in 1990. Henry also had part time jobs, first with the Scully and Brown Auto body shop in Nebraska and later in life with the Daily Times Call in Colorado.Henry was a devoted husband and father. He made sure that the family took a summer vacation every year. He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles and working on cars. He loved his pets and was known to spoil his dog.He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Kathy Nicks and Jean Curry and his brother Paul.Henry is survived by his wife Eleanor, four sons Don Wellmann (Linda), Jerry Wellmann (Cami Ross), Tom Wellmann and Tim Wellmann (Mandy), 15 grandchildren Melissa, Paul, Lisa, Kendra, David, Sherri, Amber, Jarrod, Ryan, Danny, Priscilla, Jannelle, Adrian, Timmy and Matthew many great grandchildren and brother Orvile.Visitation will be from 5:50 to 6:30pm, with a Rosary Vigil beginning at 6:30 on Wed. Sept. 30, 2015 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00am Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.
