
Howard E. Holcomb died January 31, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 86.Howard was born on February 2, 1924 in Timnath, CO to Henry Ernest and Anna Jeanette (Hilton) Holcomb. He graduated from High School and enlisted in the Navy during World War II where he served on the USS Lexington.In 1967 he married Fay McKinney and together they moved to Longmont. Howard was employed by the City of Longmont as a Park Manager for Roosevelt and Thompson parks; as well as running the city ice rink when it started in the 1970's.Howard enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, being around people, watching Colorado Rockies games, and was loved by everyone.Howard is preceded in death by his wife Fay in 1994; his parents; brothers Owen, Gordon and Jack and sister Helen Thielke, stepsons Bob and Joseph McKinney; stepdaughters Joan Karabin and Donna Jane McKinneyHe is survived by his sister Lois Schackterle of Worland, WY, stepson Tom McKinney of Arvada; his step daughter-in-law Marian McKinney of Longmont; two stepdaughters B Marlene Pritchard and Vivan Strosnider and numerous nieces and nephews.Graveside inurnment will take place 1 PM Saturday February 5, 2011 at Grandview Cemetery 1900 West Mountain Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80521. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions to the American lung Association in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
