Ignacio “Chito” Quintana, Jr. passed away on March 30, 2022. He was 24.
Chito was born in Boulder on May 29, 1997, raised in Longmont, and graduated from Skyline High School in 2015. He attended Front Range Community College studying animation and graphic design, and most recently worked as a budtender at Native Roots Longmont.
He developed his passions early on in his life and Chito used his brilliant writing, artistic, and his natural film critic skills from age 4 when he noted the lighting was all wrong in a movie. Chito was an avid gamer and he dabbled in livestreaming. He was ready to pursue his dream of being a 2D animator with his recent purchase of the exactly, perfectly, carefully selected computer equipment.
Chito was a well-spoken and dedicated learner – always gathering and sharing facts and details. He flawlessly delivered witty quips and jokes and had a phenomenal sense of humor. A skillful chef and foodie, Chito enjoyed cooking everything from delicious chili rellenos to gourmet ramen to banana pudding. He was an avid collector of Japanese anime books, videos, soundtracks, and figures, vinyl records, comic books, collectible Nintendo and Star Wars, and of Gundam figures he built with his cousin-brothers. He loved sports and was a Golden State Warriors and Denver Broncos fan. He would do pretty much anything to catch all of their games, even if it was on his cellphone. He had a beautiful soul, an incredibly gentle and kind spirit, and gave the very best hugs.
He is survived by his parents Ignacio and Dawn Quintana, sister Zenia Quintana, grandmother Marina Chavez Velazquez, grandfather James Klismet, great aunt Debi Stevenson, cousin-brothers Danny and Alex Hains, cherished friends Paul Roy and Cameron Leibin, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Ignacio is predeceased by his great-grandmother Jean Schuneman, grandmother Cathy Hains and step-grandfather John Hains, and his grandfather Isidro Quintana Marmolejo.
Chito’s Memorial of Life will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO, 80501, with a celebration of love from 3pm to 8pm at LaVern M. Johnson Park in Lyons. Donations can be made in Ignacio’s name to a favorite local charity. One love.
