

Ilse Bruning, 100, lifelong resident of Boulder County passed away December 11, 2015 at her home. She was born October 14, 1915 at the family farm to August and Anna (Wittekind) Behrmann.Ilse graduated from Boulder High School, she married Francis Bruning on October 14, 1936. Ilse was an activities director for several nursing homes in the area as well as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She took special enjoyment in her family, was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and also enjoyed bowling.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis, brothers Ernest and Hans, sister Louise Gebers, daughter Elaine James, daughter-in-law Joanne Bruning and son-in-law Hal James. Ilse is survived by sons Arthur (Karen) and Donald (Barbara), daughter Cathleen (Mike Zielinski), brother Richard, grandchildren; Debbie (John) Haggerty, Cyndi (Paul) Rovnak, Karrie (Shawn) Pease, David (Betsy) Bruning, Paul (Suzanne) Bruning, Miriam (B.J.) Andree; Heather (Daniel) Rodney, Cynthia (Jae) Im, April (John) Im; step grandchildren; Kathy (Ron) Lutes, Mary (Mac) Ryerse, and Steven (Peg) Sutherland; great-grandchildren; Kyle (Lisa) Rovnak, Dawn Rovnak (fiancée Zach), Beau, Tyler Wren (Cheyonna), Garrett, Jordan, Olivia, Suriana and Calathea, Jessica (Mike), Anna, Danny, Ben, Rachel, Eric, Christopher, Dustin, Jenni (Jeremy), Steven (Shelley), Cara, Isabella, Michael, Charlie, Grant, Adam, Luke; great-great gradchildren, Aydrinna, Scarlett, Eleanor, Rowen and Greta.Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday Dec. 16, 2015 at Messiah Lutheran Church with viewing prior to service. Burial at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
