

Irene Fry Cooke12/29/1914-5/2/2009Irene Fry Cooke was born on Dec. 29, 1914 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada to William and Veronica Mihalus. She was one of seven children that were all split apart after the parents had passed away. Irene was raised in an orphanage separate from the rest of her family. Irene made her way by working in private homes and cooking. When she was living at the Luella Cummings Home in Toledo, Ohio she met her first husband, George Fry. They were married on June 22, 1935. Irene then became a naturalized citizen in 1944 and she and George moved to Boulder in 1955. George passed away on February 10, 1976. Irene then met and married Glenn Cooke on March 19, 1979. He passed on August 16, 1998. She passed away on May 2, 2009 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Irene is survived by her two daughters: Nancy Irene Davis of Tigard, Oregon, and Norma Lee Frazier of Parker, Colorado. She had five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters.A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Boulder with Dr. Dwight Neunschwander officiating. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church.
