
Jack Clayton of Longmont, Colorado died April 9, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 71.Jack was born September 16, 1936 in Okarche, Oklahoma to Lee Noah and Nola May (Shay) Clayton. Jack grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and Arizona. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. Jack married Nancy Gayle Mutz on January 26, 1959 in Iwakuni, Japan while he was in the service.After his time in the Navy, Jack worked for the FAA in Oklahoma City as an electronic technician. He left there to join IBM and enjoyed a 20-year career as an electrical engineer. After retirement Jack pursued other passions, especially teaching college classes in the U.S. and China and he held a variety of other jobs. Jack enjoyed traveling and spending time with his siblings, kids, and grandkids. Jack enjoyed life and pursued a variety of hobbies, interests, and spending time in Pitkin, Colorado. Jack was an active member of East Boulder Baptist Church in where he taught Sunday School classes.Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Clayton. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Longmont; two sons: Douglas and his wife Kathy of Longmont and Dwight and his wife Sharon of Johnstown, CO; his daughter Jana Clayton of Longmont; two brothers: C. E. Clayton (Linda) of Sheridan, WY and Glen Clayton of Stroud, OK; two sisters: Rosalea Davis of Clear Lake, IA and Louella Workman (John) of Hyde Park, UT; grandchildren: Lindsay, Patrick, A.J., Blair, Breanna, Sydney, Jacob, Luke, Melody, and Kelly; and great grandchildren: Noah, Carson, and Mackenzie.Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m. at East Boulder Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Crematory Service.In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to East Boulder Baptist Church for missions, 7690 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO 80303.
