Jack Kunio Miyasaki passed away on April 25, 2012. Born to Kunihei and Sono (Daimaru) Miyasaki on March 9, 1924, on a farm north of Lafayette, Colorado, Jack was the third of seven brothers and sisters. Jack married Margaret Masako Yamada on February 26, 1950. They recently celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary. Jack farmed the family farm in Lafayette with his brother John, raising vegetables and selling them in Denver. After having entered into the farm equipment business, John asked Jack to join him and Ken Anderson in the venture in 1972. Jack retired from the business in 1993 following John's death. Since retiring, Jack and Margaret spent their time doing the things they loved most together: golfing, gardening in their spacious backyard (Jack was fond of mowing with his Cub Cadet), enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching sports of all kinds. He was an active member of the Longmont Buddhist Temple. Jack and Margaret travelled extensively with their daughter Judy, including a trip to Japan in 1999 to trace family roots an experience that Jack treasured always. With Judy's help, Jack was able to reconnect with relatives that he had not seen in sixty-one years not since he was twelve years old, when he was sent to Japan to learn to read and write Japanese so that he could correspond with his relatives for his parents. Jack had an enormous, infectious smile and a warmth about him that made it impossible for anyone to remain a stranger in his presence. No one could resist the utter charm of his stories, his memories of his childhood and his life. He is survived by the love of his life, Margaret; his sister Jane Kanemoto of Longmont, Colorado; his sons Stanley (Carolyn) of Firestone, Colorado, and Mark of Lafayette, Colorado; his daughters Judy of Lafayette, Colorado, and Cynthia Matsumoto (Donald) of Manhattan Beach, California; his grandchildren Gretchen Wilkinson (Harris) of Denver, Colorado, Jenny of Los Angeles, California, Michael, Gabrielle, Madison, and Peighton of Broomfield, Colorado; his great-grandchildren, Rowen and Blythe Wilkinson, of Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kunihei Miyasaki and Sono Daimaru; his son Michael; his sisters Mary Takahashi, Chiyoko Kanemoto, and Lily Fukaye; and his brothers Hajime and John Miyasaki. A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Longmont Buddhist Temple, corner of Pike and Hwy 287, Longmont, Colorado.
