James Arthur Brunemeier, known to most as Jim, was born on April 7, 1939, in Burlington, and he passed away on May 9, 2026, in his home in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 87. He lived a long and faithful life grounded in Christian belief, steady work, and devoted service to God, country, church, and family. Those who knew him remember a man of integrity, humility, and quiet strength, whose life reflected a deep commitment to doing what was right and to caring for the people and communities around him.
Jim’s early years helped shape the dependable and hardworking man he became. He earned his High School GED and continued his education through the U.S. Navy Electrical “A” School and U.S. Navy Submarine School, preparing him for a life of service and technical skill. He answered the call to serve his nation as a Naval Submarine Sailor, and he carried that responsibility with discipline, courage, and honor. Through years of faithful service, he rose to the rank of Electrician’s Mate Chief Petty Officer, a role that reflected both his expertise and the trust placed in him by those who served alongside him.
After his military service, Jim continued to build a life marked by diligence and accomplishment. He became a Master Electrician in the State of Colorado, using his knowledge and abilities to provide for others and to contribute meaningfully to the work around him. He took pride in doing a job well, and he was known for his dependable nature and practical wisdom. Whether in uniform, at work, or at home, Jim approached his responsibilities with a steady hand and a sincere heart.
Jim’s faith was central to his life. He was a Christian who loved going to church and serving at church, and he found joy and purpose in worship, fellowship, and service. He served as a Deacon at Mountain View Southern Baptist Church, where his presence was a blessing to many. His life of service within the church reflected his love for the Lord and his desire to encourage others through example, kindness, and steadfast devotion. He lived his faith not only in words, but in the way he treated others and in the way he carried himself each day.
In addition to his many responsibilities, Jim enjoyed a rich and meaningful life filled with simple pleasures and cherished interests. He loved music and dancing, and he found enjoyment in playing pool. He also had a deep appreciation for farming, which suited his hardworking spirit and connection to the land. One of his favorite pastimes was restoring antique cars and tractors, a hobby that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for craftsmanship and history. These interests brought him joy and gave him many opportunities to share good times with friends and family.
Above all, Jim treasured the time he spent with friends and family. He valued companionship, conversation, and the bonds formed through shared experiences. His life was enriched by the people who knew and loved him, and he in turn enriched their lives through his presence, humor, and faithful example. He leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, and perseverance that will be remembered with gratitude and affection.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Jim’s life stands as a testimony to a man who worked hard, loved deeply, served faithfully, and trusted in God. His family and friends may take comfort in the promise of the Christian faith and in the knowledge that his life was lived with purpose and grace. He will be remembered with love, respect, and thanksgiving for the many ways he blessed those around him.
