
James A. Johnson, 77, of Longmont, CO. died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Redwing, CO, to Estel and Irene (Holland) Johnson. He lived for many years in Lyons, CO before moving to Longmont in July 2003. James married Sharon Hiner-Follett on April 16, 1955 in Walden, CO. They spent over forty-eight loving years together prior to Sharon's death in 2002. James worked for the Federal Government as a security guard before retiring in 1977. He was a past member of the Lyons Lions Club. James liked to crochet and made many afghans as gifts for family and friends and as donations to various organizations.He is survived by four children; sons Charles Johnson and wife Deanna, Longmont, CO, James Johnson and wife Kim, Lake-in-Hills, IL, Tammie Garberding, Pueblo, CO, Sharla Geear and husband Jeff, St. Charles, MO as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents and his wife preceded him in death.Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Crematory.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20 at Howe Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Mary Dobbs officiating. Services will conclude at the Mortuary.
