

Jim McCarley completed his earthy journey on October 22 after a short battle with cancer.Jim was born on January 31, 1932 in Texarkana, Texas. He was proud to have served our country overseas as a U.S. Marine, surviving the Chosin Reservoir campaign, a very decisive battle in the Korean War. He continued to enjoy activities and remembrances of the Chosin Few throughout his life.He returned to get his degree at North Texas State University. There, he met Betty McAllister, the love of his life. Jim and Betty just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July.Jim went on to a successful career as a representative for the medical manufacturing industry, travelling to hospitals throughout the Rocky Mountain region.He was an avid golfer, skier, fisherman and target shooter. When he wasn't enjoying these activities, he maintained his lifelong quest to find the world's best cinnamon roll.Jim is survived by his wife, Betty, his daughter Jan Johnson of Firestone, his son Steve McCarley of Centennial and five adoring grandchildren.A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Church at 2101 Gay St in Longmont.
