

James W. Parish died October 12, 2006 in Longmont, Colorado. He was 74 years old.James was born on June 18, 1932 in Durant, Oklahoma to Charles D. Parish and Dixie McElhose Parish. The family moved to San Diego when he was young boy.Mr. Parish graduated from Chula Vista High School. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served during the Korean War. Following his enlistment, he attended and graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A classical pianist by training, James began playing for a number of establishments in San Francisco, being retained at the Top of the Mark for a number of years. He returned to San Diego, where for 22 years he was the pianist in the Palm Court at the Hotel del Coronado. He also played for the USS Cleveland-Cruise Lines.After retiring Mr. Parish moved to Durango, before moving to Longmont in 2001. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Durango, where he frequently was the guest pianist.Preceding in death are his parents and 8 brothers and sisters.Surviving are his sister, Lauren Sadler and her husband, Neal, of Longmont, niece, Renee Paris of Santa Fe, New Mexico and numerous other nieces and nephews.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO. No local services will be held at this time.
