James Julian Wengert, 74, of Longmont, died November 12, 2014 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born in Springer, New Mexico on October 15, 1940, the son of Carlos and Pearl (Christian) Wengert. Following his high school graduation he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard serving until 1965 when he was honorably discharged and made the decision to move to Colorado. On February 17, 1967 he married Jean Gies in Denver, Colorado.
Mr. Wengert worked in Chemical Warehousing for I.B.M. until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and always loved working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife Jean Wengert of Longmont and his sisters Connie Romero of Las Vegas, N.M., Carolyn Chavez of Wagon Mound, N.M. and Agnes Duran of Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marsha Esquibel.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
