Jane Chisholm Robertson (Chisholm)

Jane was born June 30, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Roderick and Melva (Sherman) Chisholm. Following her high school graduation she went on to attend college at the University of Iowa, Kent State University, Monmouth College and the University of Delaware and earned a masters in teaching while raising 3 children.

She married Carl Blaine Robertson on February 4, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this February.

Jane taught elementary school in Delaware for over 30 years at Pleasantville Elementary School and McCullough Middle School. She maintained friendships with her students, their parents, fellow teachers and her student teachers throughout her life.

After retiring to Longmont, Colorado, Jane was active in the community, was involved with the ADK teaching sorority and tutored underprivileged students. Jane was a fixture at her grandchildren’s schools. She will be missed in the stands of many basketball, softball, football, volleyball and baseball games.

Jane and Carl enjoyed their retirement by travelling throughout the country, attending University of Iowa sporting events throughout the year and spending time with their grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her husband Carl of Longmont, CO; her sons Jeff (Julie) Robertson of Frederick, CO and Matt (Paige) Robertson of Charlotte, NC; her daughter Debbie (Mark) Myers of Longmont and her sister Marilyn (Richard) Hankinson of Des Moines, IA. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Megan (Brandon) Casterline, Marley Robertson, Makenzie Robertson, Mia Jane Robertson, Hayes Robertson, Owen Robertson, Tayla Myers, Madison Myers and Austin Myers and two great grandchildren Landyn and Olivia Casterline.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Ewing officiating.
