Janice Elaine Nelson

January 26, 1944 – November 3, 2023

Janice Elaine Nelson was born January 26, 1944 in Springfield, Colorado, the daughter of Carl A. and Mildred J. (Bennett) Mason. She had worked in several nursing homes in the Salina-Lindsborg, Kansas area. She married Bobby L. Martin. They were divorced. She married James R. Nelson on November 3, 1968. He survives. Other survivors include 2 sons, Bobby G. (Christi) Martin and James R. (Mona) Nelson, Jr. two daughters, Carlena Gannels and Linda Clapper, 27 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Henry, Herman and Carl E. Mason and grandchildren, Summer Lemaster and Derrek Swisher.

Janice lived for her children and grandchildren, and when they were not available she mothered her neighbor’s children. There was always a welcome ear to confide in. she was friends to virtually everyone on Facebook. There will be a service here in Longmont at a later date. The burial will take place at The Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery in Smolan, Saline County, Kansas at a later date.
