

Genevieve Ashley Sommervold, age 30, and Jared Wayne Sommervold, age 34, passed away September 16, 2016.Genevieve (Gen) was born in Greeley Colorado on August 22, 1986 to Brian and Cheryl Froid. Growing up she was a huge animal lover, always rescuing sick and injured animals. She loved raising her chickens, rabbits, horses, cats, dogs, and various other animals. As a child she loved to play tennis, swimming, playing her violin, traveling around the US in diving competitions, and showing her horses. Gen also was a very talented artist, she loved making stained glass. Many people have pieces of her work, there are so many little pieces of Gen everywhere. Gen accelerated in everything, especially school. She was always placed in advanced classes in school and offered to be moved up a grade level. Gen was accepted into the Integrated Physiology Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. She started college with already so many college credits she earned in high school from the IB program that she graduated from CU in 2 years, the fastest and youngest person to complete that degree in CU history, most take 5 years to get that degree. She was so young she wasn't able to have a drink with her classmates on the hill, she was offered orange juice as a substitute and not be left out of the tradition. After CU, Gen decided that she wanted to make a difference in young children's lives as a teacher. She worked her way through college and always paid her own way. While getting her master's degree she worked at as a vet tech, doing what she loved saving animals. Gen earned her teaching license from the University of Northern Colorado and her master's degree from Western Governors University. While attending the University of Northern Colorado, she met and fell in love with Jared Sommervold. Gen started her teaching career teaching low income students. She loved all of her students she ever had. She would stay after school to give free violin lessons to students who wanted to learn violin but were unable to afford lessons. She would bring her own violins to do so. Not only did she stay after school to teach violin lessons but many days she would stay after to help tutor her students. She was a dedicated teacher to her students. Her current teaching position was in Fort Collins Colorado at Fort Collins High School teaching Pre AP Biology, Chemistry, and Biology. Jared was born January 17, 1982 to Jake Sommervold and Wendy Conder in Longmont, Colorado. Growing up Jared was always interested in sports. He played football, wrestled and played rugby.Jared graduated from Longmont High School and went on to the University of Colorado graduating with a BS in Kinesiology and a minor in biochemistry. He interned with the Colorado Rockies as a trainer. While working as a trainer, he went back to school and obtained a Master's degree from Western Govenors University. Jared also had a landscaping company in the summers. At University of Northern Colorado he met the love of his life Genevieve Froid.Jared taught and coached at Longmont High School. He loved his family, friends, fellow teachers and students. His un-orthodox style of teaching gained him respect from everyone. His biggest attributes were his loyalty, contagious smile and being a true friend.Gen and Jared met at UNC in 2010 and were married in Boulder Colorado in June of 2013. They resided in Johnstown Colorado. In 2014 they welcomed their daughter Aurelia Grace Sommervold into the family. Gen and Jared loved fishing and golfing together. The family was out to dinner on Friday 09/16/16 and on their way home were in a fatal car crash where both Gen and Jared lost their lives. Gen's greatest achievement in life was becoming a mother to Aurelia. She was the most wonderful mother and wife to the most amazing man.Jared's greatest reward in life was being a father to Aurelia and a husband to his beautiful wife. He dedicated his life to them. They are survived by their daughter Aurelia, their parents Brian and Cheryl Froid, Wendy and Steve Conder and Jake Sommervold and his wife Lynda Clydesdale, their grandparents Lowell Hexum, Marcy Sommervold, Norma Freeman and Margaret Clydesdale their siblings Kathryn Arnold, Travis Sommervold and Brent Sommervold, Jessi Wolf, Ashley Milligan, Brooke Boyd and their spouses numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death are grandparents Elvis and Alice Wright, Kenneth Sommervold, Joyce Hexum and Thomas Clydesdale. The night of the crash the world lost two of the most generous, intelligent, loving, and caring people who will be missed greatly by everyone who was touched by them in their lives. A Memorial service to honor and celebrate their lives will be held 5:00pm Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church-Niwot campus. Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sommervold Education Fund for Aurelia Sommervold and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
