

Dorothy Jean Jones, 96, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa and Longmont, Colorado died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 28, 2016.Jean (Saeger) Jones was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on July 19, 1920 to Dr. William Saeger and Agnes (Zutz) Saeger. She attended schools in Norfolk, Nebraska.She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in teaching/business. At the University she met her husband of 67 years, Paul Jones Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa. They married on Oct. 24, 1943.Jean was a homemaker to Paul and their four daughters. Her strong faith was most important in her life. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and visited nursing homes with the Lamplighters organization. She kept a list of family members and friends and would pray daily for them.She believed in eating a healthy diet and would weekly bake whole wheat bread and plan nutritious meals to make.Jean always had a large vegetable garden and yearly planted large containers of red geraniums for outside their home. She loved to design clothes, refinish furniture, and decorate her home. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Vacations to Lake Okoboji were always a favorite memory.Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dealton Jones and beautiful daughter, CynthiaJean (Jones) Hughes (who was born on 12/28 and is the same date as Jean's homecoming to heaven date) and also her younger brother, Dr. Robert Saeger of Fremont, Nebraska.Jean is survived by her three daughters, Cathleen (Jones) Glinton, Carol (Jones) Woodley and husband Michael Woodley, Cherri (Jones) Woodley and husband Patrick Woodley.She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Cameron Glinton and spouse Shadia Taylor Glinton, Clayton Glinton, and Curt Glinton. Jennifer (Woodley) Kellogg and spouse Brian Kellogg and great - grandchildren Jack, Brady and Ellarie. Paul Michael Woodley and spouse Ann Marie Woodley and great - grandchildren Gregory, Ryan, and Michael. Jacquelynn (Woodley) Perkins and spouse Randy Perkins and great grandchildren Arlo and Willa. Andrea (Woodley) Dratch and spouse Steve Dratch and great - grandchildren Eli, Alec, and Owen. Justin Woodley and spouse Jill Woodley and great - grandchildren Clara and Esther.
