

Jerry Thomas Fikes, Jr. passed away on Saturday, September, 12, at his home in Lyons, CO. He is survived by his wife, Sandi, son J.T., daughter Killion, step-son Jesse Atkinson, sister Jennifer Erickson and her husband Jim Erickson, and parents Tom and Nancy Fikes. Jerry was born in Denton, Texas on October 4, 1961. He attended public schools in Guadalajara, Mexico, Richardson, Texas, Dublin, California and Ph nix, Arizona. Jerry was an outstanding athlete and student leader. In Junior High he was selected to the Pop Warner All America Team at age 13. He lettered in three sports at Thunderbird High School and served as football team captain. Jerry was elected president of every school class from the 6th grade thru 11th grade and was student body president his senior year. Jerry attended Arizona State University on a Leadership Scholarship. Jerry moved to Lyons, Colorado in his early twenties and called Lyons home for the past 30 years. He was, at times, active in local community affairs. He and his son, J.T., were involved together in school activities and scouts; one year they built a float for the annual Lyons Good Old Days Parade. Jerry was a member of the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department for several years, and was an active member of Lyons Community Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.Jerry had a big heart and was loved by so many. He was intellectual, philosophical, and artistic. Chemistry was his passion, and he enjoyed reading and drawing. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lyons Community Church on Monday, September 21, at 11am. A luncheon reception will be held immediately afterwards in the downstairs reception hall.
