

Jesse C. Sloan of Longmont died October 25, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 47.Jesse was born on September 6, 1961 in Boulder, to James ""Jim"" Sloan and Nancy Hodson Sloan. Jesse was involved in Scouts from a young age. Participating with Troop 166, he was active in many outdoor events, including many camp outs and hiking trips and climbing 14'ers. He enjoyed working a number of summers at the Ben-Delatour Scout Ranch near Red Feathers Lakes. He achieved the rank of Life Scout and was just two merit badges short of his Eagle Scout Award. Through Scouts he was introduced to Native American Dancing and participated in dances with the Kashire Indians in southeastern Colorado. He grew up in Longmont, graduating from Longmont High School in 1980. He loved fly-fishing, had a deep concern for all animals and more recently took up gold prospecting.From an early time in his life he was enthralled with the machinist trade. He graduated through the CDC Program and started working in the industry at the age of 16. His career took him to various parts of the U.S. to work specialties. He was very proud of his work in the aerospace industry in Whittier, California. He most recently was affiliated with ADCO Machining of Mead as a machinist/programmer.Surviving are his parents of Longmont, wife Fern Fennell-Sloan of Longmont; and a brother James C. Sloan, Jr. of Firestone.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30 at Westview Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Bruce McQueen officiating.
