He was 82.Jim was born December 8, 1929 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Newton H. and Marion (Butcher) Burkett.He married Roberta Cox on August 27, 1948 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Together they moved to Longmont in 1964 from Beaumont, Texas.Jim was a certified optician and worked for Benson Optical of Boulder for 30 years until his retirement in 1992.He was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church and the International Academy of Opticianory.Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, and wood carving.He was preceded in death by his parents.Jim is survived by his wife Roberta Burkett of Longmont; his son Robert (Kay) Burkett of Longmont; his daughter Vicki (Ron) Weber of Frederick; his grandchildren Kelsey (Todd) Riccio, Courtney (John) Pryor, Jamie Burkett, and Kimberly (Justin) Green; and six great-grandchildren.Memorial service 11:00 AM Friday November 2, 2012 at LifeBridge Christian Church.
