Jimmie Garcia was called home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. He was born on February 7th, 1953 to Bentura and Frances Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife, Frieda and his children: Crystal (Mark) Lopez; Benjamin (Jessica) Garcia and Abraham (Wendi) Garcia. His grandchildren: Marcus and Devin Lopez; August and Brennan Garcia; Savannah Marie Garcia, Hannah and Ashton Cobaugh; Triston and Maleah Lucero, and Gavin Cummings.
Jimmie was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, Jimmie began work at IBM and ultimately retired with 32 years of dedicated service. He was a life long resident of Mead and Longmont. He was preceded in death by his Brother Johnnie Garcia, his Father, Bentura Garcia, and Father-in-Law, Fred Torres. He is survived by his Mother, Frances; and brothers, Benito “Bennie” Garcia; Delfino (Rachel) Garcia; Rudy (Rina) Garcia; and Leroy Garcia; and special cousin, Edward (Linda) Garcia. He is also survived by Mother-in-Law, Elsie Torres; his brother-in-laws, Roger, Abe (Angela) and Ruben (Debbie) Torres; his sisters-in-law, Rosella (Larry) Segura, and Sarah Jacquemard; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jimmie loved the Lord with all his heart and stayed true to his fighting spirit and faith until the very end. He loved life, and his grandchildren were the joy of his heart. He loved to run (3-5 miles a day); to go elk hunting with his brothers-in-law and nephews; to grill, cook, and roast chili; and loved to keep his cars and yard well maintained. If you knew Jimmie, you could not leave his home without eating some of his homemade breakfast burritos or his amazing barbecue chicken. He will be missed by everyone, but this is not goodbye. For now, happy trails…until we meet again!
Viewing and visitation is at Howe Mortuary, Longmont, on Sunday, October 18th from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Funeral services will commence at New Creation Church (737 Bross Street, Longmont, CO 80501) on Monday, October 19th, at 10:00am. Immediately following the funeral service, Jimmie will be laid to rest with military honors at Mountain View Cemetery.
