Born on March 15, 1947, in Chisago City, Minnesota, Joan grew up in Wyoming, Minnesota, alongside her sisters, Jackie and Jill, and her brother, Jerry. She graduated from Forest Lake High School before pursuing her lifelong passion for helping others at the Ramsey School of Nursing in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Joan spent many years as a labor and delivery nurse, compassionately caring for mothers and welcoming countless babies into the world. Later, she found a new calling as a massage therapist, spending another two decades bringing comfort, healing, and physical relief to her clients. Throughout her life, Joan was known for her generous heart, quiet strength, intelligence, and willingness to help those in need.
Joan had an incredible sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could brighten any room. She loved all things metaphysical and was endlessly curious about life's mysteries, always seeking a deeper understanding of people, healing, and the world around her. She also found great joy in nature, spending time on her patio with family and friends, and appreciating the simple moments in life. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression and will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, John Schwartz, and his wife, Jaimie; her daughter, Amanda Crane, and her partner, Brandy; and her three cherished grandchildren, Natasha, Sam, and Nicolette. She was preceded in death by her former husband Robert E. Schwartz; her parents; and her brother.
