

Joan was born on January 23, 1939 in Norfolk, Virginia to Merrick Rose and Maude Newcomb Rose. She was raised in Norfolk and married Gary Weatherly on August 9, 1957 in Norfolk.
The Weatherly’s made trips to the Rocky Mountain area, falling in love with the mountains and “big blue” skies. They moved to Longmont in 1970 where they made their home, raising their girls on the rural property.
After the girls became older, Joan took up a career with Boulder County Social Services. There she was an income maintenance supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Joan loved working various crafts projects, traveling in retirement, gardening her beautiful property and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two brothers Frank and Jack Rose; two sisters Grace Williams and Betty Webster.
Surviving are her daughters Terri (Randy) Reynolds of Evans, Colorado; Lori (Jim) English of Longmont; sisters Anne Gossett of Boulder; Blanche Ludwick of Norfolk, Virginia; and Stella (Hank) Hecker of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren Gary English, Kristi (Justin) Cain; Beth and Rashyn Reynolds; and five great grandchildren Aubrey and Riley Cain; and Aurora, Carmine and Army Reynolds.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15 at the Howe Community Room.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
