

JoAnn Hall Thompson, of Longmont, Colorado, age 85, passed away peacefully at Longmont United Hospital on March 22, 2016. JoAnn is survived by her three children, Janice (Gary), Pine River, MN; Carl, (Carol), Longmont, CO; and Jerry (Sharon), Pueblo, CO She also has three grandchildren, Christopher Campbell, Deborah Williams and Rebekah Campbell; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Thompson, her sister Alyce, and her brother Robert. JoAnn was born November 2, 1930 to William Theodore Ted and Le Wilna (Savidge) Hall. She grew up in Ft. Collins, CO and attended CSU. She married Ross Lynn Campbell August 27, 1950, a WWII veteran, and employee of the State Game and Fish Department, and later a Soil Conservationist. They had three children, Janice, Carl and Jerry. They grew up in rural Colorado, including Meeker, Montrose, and Springfield then moved to Boulder in 1965.Janice, Carl, and Jerry all were introduced to music at an early age because their mother was committed to music excellence and started teaching all three on the piano. JoAnn played piano and the organ for church services at the First Methodist Church in Montrose and Springfield. She mastered the Hallelujah Chorus for an Easter performance and played for many weddings and special events. When her children were older she returned to school and the work place to become a medical secretary in Boulder.She met Eugene Thompson at a single's hiking club in Boulder and they married soon after. She participated in Garden Club when she lived in Niwot in the 80s and 90s and planted almost a quarter acre of landscaping for their custom built house. She traveled with Eugene extensively all over Europe, visited Australia, and China, Alaska and Hawaii. Even after Eugene's death she continued to travel. She especially enjoyed taking her three grandchildren to Hawaii, Alaska, California, Scotland and France for their graduations and other vacations.JoAnn was a generous person and enjoyed playing board games with the grandkids.
