

AMAYA, Joe, 63, of Longmont, CO, died June 24, 2006 at Longmont United Hospital.Joe was born February 14, 1943 in Lyford, Texas to Jose and Herlinda (De La Fuenete) Amaya. He grew up in Lyford and enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division.Joe married Martie Ramos on February 14, 1963 in Brownsville, Texas. He received a college education and earned a Master?s Degree in Psychology at CU in Denver. Joe managed one of the country?s top collection agencies, GC Services, until 1983. He then opened his own agency that he operated with his family until it was sold in 1989.In his spare time he enjoyed being involved in all aspects of boxing including; being an avid enthusiast, training others and judging boxing events. Joe was a patriotic man and proud father who always looked his best. His father preceded Joe in death.Joe is survived by his wife Martie of Longmont; two sons: Jerry Amaya of Lakewood, CO and Michael Amaya and his wife Renee of Arvada, CO; a daughter, Denise Amaya ? Rodriquez and her husband Eloy of Longmont; five grandchildren: Ashley, Laura, Gabriella, Yesenia, and Isabella. He is also survived by his mother who lives in Lyford, Texas; 8 brothers and 5 sisters.Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary on Wednesday, June 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29 with Reverend Brian Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 1:00 p.m. at Staging Area B.
