Joe Lucio Lucero

Joe Lucio Lucero of Lafayette, died April 20, 2008 at Boulder Community Hospital following an accident. He was 69.Joe was born on February 19, 1939 to Albert Lucero and Victoria Trujillo Lucero in Las Vegas, New Mexico. At a young age he and his family moved to Erie.Joe graduated from Erie High School in 1957. On November 27, 1958 he married Theresa Katich in Lafayette. Joe worked as a sheet metal worker. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 for his entire career. The largest amount of his work was at Rocky Flats, where he retired in 2002.Joe was an avid fisherman, enjoying time with his sons and grandchildren. He was known to make frequent trips to Blackhawk.Surviving are his wife of Lafayette; four sons: John Lucero of Lyons, Randy Lucero of Berthoud, Tony Lucero of Longmont, and Len Lucero and his wife Tracy of Brighton; a brother Albert Lucero of Lakewood; three sisters: Annabelle Sanchez of Thornton, Elsie Valdez of Colorado Springs, and Judy Serna of Graham, Washington; and six grandchildren: Ciara, Tony Jr., Dylan, TJ, Alyssa, and Marcus Lucero. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, April 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lafayette with The Reverend Bob Amundsen officiating. A reception will follow the services at the Church Hall.A cremation will follow services.Contributions may be made to the Theresa Lucero Fund, P.O.
