
J l Trotter passed away peacefully in his sleep of heart failure on May 23, 2013 at his home. He was 61 years old.J l was born on May 23, 1952 in Aurora, Nebraska to Gerald and Evelyn Trotter.J l moved to Longmont in 1961 from Brush, CO.He graduated from Longmont High School in 1970. He pursued a career in baseball when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates; he also considered coaching baseball. Instead he began a 37 year career with the City of Longmont, beginning in 1975 until his retirement in 2012, as Operations Manager for Longmont Power and Communications.On May 15, 1992 he married Teresa, the love of his life. Together, they built a family that became the center point of his life.J l was a member of the Longmont Church of the Nazarene and loved his Lord Jesus, his church family, enjoyed reading his Bible every day. He was a walking testament that God lives.He was a member of the Longmont Rod and Gun club at Ish Lake. J l enjoyed fishing, golf, playing in softball leagues with his sons, family volleyball, and was a Denver Broncos fanatic. He was a member and past president of the Hot Line School in Grand Junction, CO.J l was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law Patricia Parham.He is survived by his wife Teresa of Longmont; six children Robyn Smith (Brian), Mitch Trotter, Craig Lord (Natalie), Capt. Nathan Trotter (Shin Jeung), Laura Giles (Jason), and BJ Julich (Nicole); 14 grandchildren Amber, Kayla, Taya, Hallie, Audrey, Addie, Jack, Austin, Ella, Eli, Zach, Jake, Lianna, and Beth; his sister Roberta Schippert (Skip); his sisters-in-law Debbie Halsey and Linda Meintzer; and numerous other family and friends.Memorial service 10:00 AM Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Calvary Church 2101 Gay St. Longmont, CO 80501.
