
J. Colin Stroh, age 87, of Longmont, CO died September 10, 2015 at Life Care Center of Longmont. He was born November 4, 1927 in Berthoud, Colorado to John C. and Frieda (Hoff) Stroh.He graduated with honors from Longmont High School and was active in Future Farmers of America (FFA), earning many awards at the county and state fairs. He attended Colorado A&M (now CSU Fort Collins) for 2 quarters, and then enlisted in the Army for 18 months. He served in South Korea after the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He returned to CO A&M and earned a degree in Animal Science. His parents needed him back on the farm and he worked as a self-employed farmer until 1992. He was also Superintendent of the Longmont Supply Ditch for about 20 years.He was a quiet, private, generous man. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts, the Boulder County Fair, Meals on Wheels, and served as a Deacon at Central Presbyterian Church. He loved skiing, scenic drives in the mountains, watching sports, playing bridge and spending time with his grandchildren.He met Jane Hardy on a blind date in 1953 and they were married on February 19, 1955. He is survived by Jane, daughters Emily Williamson and Julie Brown, sons Clint Stroh and Tim Stroh, 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister, JoAnn Wagner. His sister Shirley Laybourn preceded him in death.A memorial service will be held October 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 401 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO.
