

John Louis Conwell of Longmont, Colorado, was born on September 27, 1943, in Hot Springs (now Truth or Consequences), New Mexico, to Louis and Ethel Claire (McDonald) Conwell. He passed away on June 6, 2026, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to his family.
At the age of 17, John joined the United States Navy, serving what was known as a “kiddie cruise,” completing his service by the age of 21. He later attended the University of New Mexico and built a successful career as a computer programmer, concluding his years of work at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
On April 7, 1966, he married the love of his life, Valora. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage, raising a family and building a home grounded in their commitment to the Lord and to one another. John was known for his cheerful spirit, friendly nature, and genuine interest in others. He enjoyed camping, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
His faith in the Lord guided his life and was evident through his years of service in his church, including bus ministry, choir, visitation ministries, and helping establish Awana clubs.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Conwell Jr.; his grandson, Brennan Warren; and his brother, Wayne Conwell.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Valora; daughter, Rebecca, and son-in-law, Jason; grandson, Garrett and wife Sharon; granddaughter, Kelsey; brother, Wade and sister-in-law, Maxine; sister, Carolyn; sister-in-law, Carla, and many extended family members and dear friends.
