John Clifford Herman, 69, passed away by his family's side on June 30, 2025 in Niwot Colorado. Born in Encino, California, John also called Tucson, Erie, Boston, Santa Barbara and Boulder his homes throughout the chapters of his life. His career and passion was the world of Finance. Having received degrees from Penn State and UCLA, he held positions in corporate finance departments, eventually planting his roots in personal investment advisory. In 2002, he founded his own Investment Advisory Firm, where he navigated the landscape of wealth management with a unique brilliance. He was intensely devoted to his clients and their welfare to the end.
John was an outdoorsy, athletic man who adapted beautifully with his environment. Whether playing along the Pacific coast or hiking and skiing the peaks of Colorado, he lived with energetic gusto. A loving and devoted father, his children were his greatest joy. His favorite time of day was picking his children up from school and taking them out for secret special outings, like grabbing In-N-Out and setting up beach chairs at the end of Santa Barbara airport runway. He was a master of making memories, and was usually filled with a childlike awe and appreciation for everything life had to offer.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years; Lyla(Cherry) and two children; Kelly Elizabeth and Daniel Lloyd; His mother Judith Gauslin, Aunt Joanne Radcliffe; Sisters Lisa Barber, Suzanne Dahlkemper, Jill O’Connor, Laura Moss, and Jennifer Herman; Brothers Phil Herman, and Dale Gauslin, and numerous very beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
John will be remembered for his strength of spirit, warmth in connecting with the people around him, and always having the loudest laugh in the room.
