John was born March 1, 1956, in Boulder Colorado to Richard and Norma Jean Hodgson. A proud Boulder native, he graduated from Boulder High School in 1974. He went on to work at Technetics, where he met the love of his life, Janice (Swainston) Hodgson, whom he later married in 1988. John and Janice made their home in Longmont where they raised two daughters, Kati (Garrett) Pacotti and Stephany (Thomas) Stone. John was a devoted father and husband who always made sure “his girls” were taken care of. As an active father, he made sure his daughters had a strong work ethic and were independent, making time to teach them how to change their own oil, drive a stick shift and shoot a gun. Summers were spent making priceless family memories boating, fishing and camping.
After leaving Technetics, John went on to follow in the family profession of Machining. He joined his brothers and father working in the family business at RJ Hodgson and Sons where he programmed CNC machines and made parts for countless industries including medical devices, aerospace and firearms. John spent nearly every day for over 35 years working at the family business where he made many lifelong friends due to his easygoing attitude and open-door policy.
John was an avid reader, bird hunter and lover of Science Fiction. He had a quick wit, a love for telling stories, and a kind and humble heart. While John spent his professional life creating, his true legacy is in the relationships he created, as someone who was always available when you needed him and always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
John is preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother Howard (Lynn) Hodgson, and his beloved wife, Janice (née Swainston). He is survived by his daughters Kati (Garrett) Pacotti and Stephany (Thomas) Stone, three granddaughters: Milana, Isabella, and Gianna Pacotti, one great-granddaughter Adrianna Clark, two brothers Donald (Chris) and Bob (Lisa) Hodgson along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and many friends he made over the years.
