

John “Jack” Daniel Connolly, beloved husband of Elynor M. Connolly, son of Esther (Nelsen)r and John Connolly, father of Charles M Connolly (Mara) and Juliann Connolly, grandfather of Senior Airman 1st Class Nicholas Meadows died May 4, 2016 at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont, CO.
Jack was born in New York City on March 3, 1935 and grew to young manhood in Providence, Rhode Island. He attended St. Michaels Elementary School and LaSalle Academy. His family moved to Evanston, IL in the 1950’s. He attended the University of Illinois, where he met his wife, Ellie Haller. They were married June 18, 1960 in Mount Olive, Illinois. Jack received his electrical engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
His professional career began with General Electric in Chicago. He also worked for J & L Steel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Commonwealth Aluminum in Owensboro, Kentucky as a project manager. He ended his career as a consultant with RT Patterson Engineering in Pittsburgh. Jack always worked in heavy industry. He was an industrialist who loved the sound and feel of a finely tuned engine.
Jack was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He also loved volunteering. He volunteered for Longmont United Hospital – for Mike Langone in the infectious disease department, the Citizen Volunteer Patrol in Longmont, Meals on Wheels and H.O.P.E.
Jack was a hard-working, devoted, good and honest family man. He loved the Steelers and Broncos, boating, working on cars, building/woodworking, fixing things and a good dirty martini.
Survivors also include brothers Richard Connolly and Robert Capettini and his wife Jane and sisters Casey Capettini and Lydia McGivney, as well as sister-in-law Carol Croell and her husband Bud and many nieces and nephews.
Jack will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Rosary prayers will be followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the Church with cremation to follow.
Memorial donations may be locally made to St. John’s Food Bank or Meals on Wheels.
