Just found out about Marions's passing.  I met Marion in about 1986-7 when he was building a house near my property.  I was really impressed with his carpentry skills, and hired him to build a post and beam house with me.  The two of us did all the post and beam work, hand lifting everything.  Often in the morning, we had a little trouble getting started, both of us burning the candle at both ends, so to speak.  He would bring 2 cans of Jolt cola, and me 2 cans of black olives.  We would lay in the shade for a few minutes while having "breakfast", and plan the day's activities, tell a few jokes, etc, then get to work!  Marion also made some amazing metal sculptures, and was quite the artist.  His imagination knew no bounds!  Glad to have known you, Marion

I never knew Marion Reynolds, only knew of him. After admiring one of his equine sculptures in Leo Goya and Jeanne Hatherley's backyards for years, not to mention the beautiful home that Marion built them near Thorn Lake, I finally bought one of Marion's horse sculptures at one of Heidi Kummli's Open Houses north of Ward. We've had that horse in our backyard for many years now. We named it "Little Ginger" in honor of our horse-woman sister-in-law Ginger. I had always hoped that someday I would meet Marion in person and tell him this tale, but alas, that can never be.

Thank you Marion for the sun, the moon and the star. Nederland won’t be the same without you.

I first met Marion many years ago, early one snowy, Nederland morning at the coffee shop after I had locked the keys in my car.  Not knowing me, he drove me home to get another set of keys and back to my car so I could drive to the airport and catch my flight.  I learned on this drive that the house which I lived in at the time was one he had designed and built.  Since that day, I count him as one of my friends whom I could count on for a good laugh and discussion of the Blues and the uniqueness of human nature.  Several pieces of his artwork are scattered around my home.  The most prominent of which is a gate to my front door which I see, touch and pass thru multiple times each day.  His smile and laugh will live on in hearts like mine whom he touched while he was here.  

Annie   Tom told me of Marion's passing. I last saw him in B&F two months ago. I will miss my friend of 40 years. I still have drawings from him hanging on the wall with wood frames he made back then for me.  I gave him old metal parts for some of his metal art because I knew if would end up in some creative piece. We worked together on building projects  when we were younger. He was an artist, craftsman and friend, I will miss him. God Bless.
