

Jon David Pope of Longmont, Colorado, died February 27, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 63.Jon was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 29, 1943, to Eugene and Rosemary (Hale) Pope. He grew up in Oklahoma and attended Texas Tech where he received a degree in Park Design Architecture. Jon served in the United States Army reserve for four years.Jon married Donna Speicher on February 14, 1971, had two sons and later divorced. He has been married to Lucy Hagger for the last 18 years.Jon moved to Longmont in the late 1960s and worked for the City of Longmont for 17 years. During his time with the city, Jon designed many of the older parks that exist in Longmont today. For the last 20 years, Jon has been involved in the real estate business and most recently has been a broker and owner of First Choice Realty. Jon was a member of the Longmont American Legion Post 32 and Longmont Moose Lodge #1548.Jon enjoyed four-wheeling in his jeep, skiing, and camping, and was a fan and supporter of the Denver Broncos.His parents preceded Mr. Pope in death. He is survived by his wife, Lucy, of Longmont; two sons: David Jon Pope and his wife, Patience, of Berthoud, Colorado and Daniel Ryan Pope and his wife, Amanda, of Milliken, Colorado; two grandchildren: Tristan Rose and Travis David Pope; and a sister, Barbara Gonzales of Green Valley, Arizona. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Jackie Doyle and her husband, Dan, and Angela Turner, all of Longmont; and step grandchildren: Kiera Doyle, Aaron Czeponis, and Jacob Haischer.A service to remember Jon and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 3 at the Longmont Moose Lodge, 2210 Pratt Street from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont.Please share your thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com.
