Joseph Avalos

Joseph Avalos, a longtime resident of Firestone, died June 13, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 96 years old.Joseph was born on July 2, 1914 in Mexico, the son of Marcilino and Rosa (Rodriguez) Avalos.He moved to Colorado in 1932 from Texas and to Firestone in 1949 from Louisville. He married Alba Alvarez on October 2, 1987 in Denver.Joseph was a retired coal miner and construction worker. He was a member of the Apostolic Assembly church and the United Mine Workers of America.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Efrain Avalos and his sisters Amilia Zuniga, Patricia Cruz and Carman Zamora.Joseph is survived by his wife, Alba Luz Avalos of Firestone; three sons, Daniel, David and Gilbert Avalos; one daughter Isabel Avalos Estrada and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visitation will be 9 AM to 10:30 AM Thursday June 16, 2011 with the Funeral Service starting at 10:30 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
