She was born May 1st, 1925, in Denver to Anthony and Angeline Lombardi. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Johnny, Junior and Bobby Lombardi, sister Evelyn Sauer, husband Lawrence Sciacca Sr. and grandson Christopher Racine.
Jo, as she preferred to be called, was raised in Phippsburg, which is outside of Steamboat Springs in the Yampa Valley. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was a miner and railroad worker. She loved to share stories of her upbringing in a small mountain town.
During WWII, she met, and later married, Lawrence Sciacca Sr. on October 21st, 1945. They lived in Denver, where the first of their five children was born, Colorado Springs and then moved to Chicago. While in Chicago they had two more children and eventually moved back to Colorado where the youngest two were born.
Jo was a wonderful homemaker. She took pride in having a clean house. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and be silly. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed baking as well.
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence “Josh” (Jan) Sciacca of Kansas, Robert Sciacca of Nebraska and Joe Sciacca of Fort Collins. Two daughters, Corrine Bernar of Denver and Donna (Stacy) Maydew of Frederick. Six grandchildren,Tara (Tom) Moreno, Kyle Sciacca, Matthew Fulton, Greg Bernar, Nick Sherwin and Lily Maydew, two great-grandchildren, Cameron Racine and Hudson Moreno, and her sister Yolanda (Roger) Carlson, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00, Wednesday Nov. 28th at Howe Mortuary Chapel with Cris Crisfield officiating.
A private burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the service, and a reception will be held at Howe Mortuary.
