Judith was born on June 30, 1940, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Leonard and Charlotte Carlson. She was raised in a small home alongside her three sisters in a close-knit and loving family.
On June 9, 1962, Judith married the love of her life, Duane Lee Bortz. Together they lovingly raised two sons, of whom they were immensely proud.
Judith worked as a secretary for the USGS, where she developed many valuable skills and formed lasting friendships. When she wasn’t working, she devoted herself to raising her two boys with patience, kindness, and grace. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. After retirement, she especially enjoyed traveling on many cruises with her family and loved ones.
Her family and friends described Judith as a kind and wonderful person who was always ready to help others whenever she could. She shared her love freely with those around her and made sure the people she cared about always knew how much they meant to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Charlotte Carlson, and by her sister, Nancy Carlson.
Judith is survived by her loving husband, Duane Lee Bortz; her sons, Douglas (Dana) Bortz and James (Nicole) Bortz; her sister, Betty Schwitzer; and her cherished grandchildren, Skyler Ann Marie Bortz and Rockwell Erich Bortz.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary of Longmont.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howemortuary.com with her loving family.
