Judith “Judy” Coyle, 66, passed away in her home in Longmont, Colorado on March 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after an over 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. She fought this horrible disease with strength, adventurousness, and humor, just as she lived her life.
Judy was born September 20, 1957 in Euclid, Ohio to Richard and Carol Freeze. She attended John F. Kennedy High School in Willingboro, New Jersey. She then obtained her Bachelors in Biology from Rutgers University and went on to get her Masters in Environmental Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. This is where she met the love of her life and eventual husband, Gerald “Jerry” Coyle.
Judy worked as a water quality manager for North Penn Water Authority, adjunct professor in the chemical engineering department at Washington University, research grant coordinator at Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, and research grant coordinator at Carnegie Mellon University.
Judy and her husband traveled throughout their lives together, living in Lansdale, PA, St. Louis, MO, Pittsburgh, PA, and Longmont, CO. She traveled for fun to several countries and completed trips to all 50 states supporting her husband in his half marathon running goals. Besides her love for travel, Judy was an avid bird watcher, made beautiful works of art through crochet, enjoyed trying new restaurants and breweries, couldn’t resist dancing to her favorite music, and had a passion for all things outdoors (hiking, snowshoeing, nature photography, etc.).
Judy is survived by her loving husband (Jerry Coyle), her three daughters that she was so proud of (Carolyn Coyle, Christine Coyle, and Jaclyn Coyle) and their spouses, and her new grandson (Coen Vietmeier).
Those who she leaves behind will remember her for her silliness, infectious laughter, quick wit, fierce intelligence, crafting talent, cooking expertise, and adventurous spirit. She will never be forgotten and will forever be missed.
A celebration of life is being scheduled for this summer and details will be sent out to friends/loved ones soon.
