Judith L. Ives

Judith L. Ives, 81, passed away Friday November 12, 2021 in Longmont, CO. She was born October 21, 1940 in Alliance, Nebraska.

Judy grew up in Nebraska and Wyoming and then went to nursing school, graduating from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN in 1961. She also received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Metropolitan State College in 1978 and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Colorado in 1980. She was a 1st Lieutenant in the Reserve (Nurse Corps) of the Unites States Air Force. In 1980 Judy, and several other nurses, also fought all the way to the Supreme Court to obtain better pay for nurses.

Judy held a variety of nursing positions from 1961 through 1997 including many years at Denver Health. She retired in 1997 and moved to Pharr Texas. She moved back to Longmont, CO around 2008. She loved animals (especially cats), golf and travel.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Gene and Ruth Ives, and her brother Donald Ives. Survivors include Donald’s wife Pamela of Franklin NC, niece Kristy Ives of Buford GA and nephew Donald “Kevin” Ives of Manchester NH. She also leaves behind many friends across the country who will miss her dearly.

Services will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont at 1:00 Monday November 22nd, 2021 with a private interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery beside her beloved parents.
