

Judith Ann Rees, born in Cleveland on December 23rd, 1934 passed away in Longmont, Colorado on July 30th, 2018, age 83. Loving mother and grandmother and friend to many, Judy will be deeply missed.Losing her father, Joseph Edward Coyle, in a tragic accident at age two, Judy spent her elementary school years living with her grandparents in Glendale, California while her mother, Margaret Elizabeth Coyle (Williamson) stayed in Cleveland, working for Harris Intertype. Spending her summers with her mother in Cleveland, and her elementary school years in Glendale living with her grandparents, affected Judy deeply.Mother of two boys, Michael and Thomas Rees, Judy also suffered another tragic loss when Thom lost his life in a surfing accident in San Diego in 1985. Despite the impact of tragedy on her life, Judy persevered and positively impacted many people.Judy would graduate from both Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1957. She moved to Strafford, Pennsylvania with her husband, James Evans Rees, and their two sons, in the late 1960's. During their time in Pennsylvania, Judy would often take her sons to Valley Forge National Historic Park to learn and to play among the historic sites.In March of 1973, the family moved to Saratoga, California where Judy would reside for the next quarter century. Judy loved the theater, especially musicals of all kinds. She enjoyed traveling in both the United States and Europe. She possessed a beautiful voice and sang with the Saratoga Federated Church Choir for many years, even touring Europe with the choir in the 1980's. A member of Sierra Club, Judy loved hiking and the outdoors. She was also an accomplished tennis player and golfer who enjoyed playing in tennis tournaments at Saratoga Country Club. In 1998, Judy moved to Tucson, Arizona where, in the Saddlebrooke community, she enjoyed a beautiful living environment with unobstructed views of the Catalina Mountains. In July of 2017, she moved to Longmont, Colorado to be closer to her son Michael, his wife, Angie, and their son, Taylor. In the fall of 2017, just three months after moving to Colorado, Judy suffered a stroke and had to move into an assisted living facility in Longmont.A caring and loving Mom, Judy's finest personal attribute was her deeply generous spirit. Friends, family, even complete strangers, benefited from her generosity. Judy is leaving a significant gift from her estate to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Donations made in Judy's memory may be made in her name to the children's hospital.Judy's final resting place will be at Ryssby Church and Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado. A celebration of life will be held at the church at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and friends and family are welcome to attend.
