June Miller (Patterson)

Anita, better known as June, was born on June 4th, 1922 in Louisville, CO to Mamie (Abbott) and William Thomas Patterson. She was the youngest of 8 girls. June attended Frederick High School. On June 14th, 1939, she married Darrell A. Powell in Greeley, Colorado. June was a homemaker while Darrell ran the farm east of Longmont. June was as a member of the Rinn Valley Grange and the “Secret Pals” amongst the farmer’s wives. In 1961, they sold the farm and moved into town. Darrell later died on December 6th, 1968.

On March 16th, 1974 she married Frank O. “Fritz” Miller at Rinn United Methodist Church. They enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. Fritz died on May 31st, 1995.

June was known for her laugh and sense of humor. When she was around a good time was had by all. June’s interests were playing cards, dancing, and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her sisters.

In addition to Darrell and Fritz, June was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Winifred, LuLu, Elsa Eliza, Opal Lee, Annie and niece Henrietta.

She is survived by her son Truman Powell of Denver, Becky Riley of Northglenn and Randy Powell and his wife Nancy of Longmont; two sisters, Eleanor King of Aztec, New Mexico and Wilmadean Ciocchetti of Longmont; 7 grandchildren, Daralyn Gurule and her children Melissa, Anthony, Stevie and Alexandrea, Lori Agnes (Dave), Billie Jo Riley (Jim), Kelly Riley, and Grace, Seth and Hillary Powell; 12 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, Joshua, Justin, Savanah, Melissa, Anthony, Stevie, Alexandrea, Dakota, Cheyenne and Devin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 30th at 10am at Howe Mortuary in Longmont.
