Karen Kay Hooley

Karen Kay Hooley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away September 3, 2026. Karen was the daughter of Jack & Arlene Wilson, born on a homestead in South Dakota on March 6, 1939. She was the last of her mother’s family, preceded by her brothers Arlen Luth, Don Luth, Charles Wilson, and Mike Wilson. When Karen was a grade schooler, she and her family moved to Colorado. A tall blonde, quiet and shy, but very spunky gal. She had to help out with the family and stopped school in the 8th grade.

Karen married Lee Hooley in Denver on September 7, 1957. They moved to Longmont, CO in 1960. Lee became a State Farm Agent and Karen was a Homemaker, raising Miles, Heidi Rodgers (Chuck), Jennifer Segura (Ed), and Mitch (Jessica). Lee passed away in June 2020. Their extended family includes grandchildren Bekah Pickerell, Sarah Liberatore (Jake), Noland Pickerell, Shelby Campbell (Brady), and Amelia Fallowell (Gary). Great grandchildren include Eva Pickerell and Preston Peterson, Paisley Liberatore, Walker Campbell and Crit Fallowell.

Karen was a gifted artisan who enjoyed tole painting, china painting, raising flowers, and creating with her kiln. Karen and Lee traveled a lot, and she was once mistaken for the actress Kim Novak in Mexico. She also was a huge movie fan, and adored Sean Connery and Paul Newman.
