Katherine Marie Mauck died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on October 5, 2026. Kathy, as we all knew her, was born October 12, 1956, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Carl Mahan and Reba (Bennett) Mahan. Her father was in the Marines, so she moved frequently during her childhood before finding a permanent home in Longmont, Colorado, where she grew up as the oldest of three children.
She met the love of her life, Gordon Mauck, in Longmont in 1970 at the local roller rink. They started dating shortly after and were married on August 10, 1974. Early in their marriage, they spent a couple of years in Long Beach, California, but ultimately found their way back to Longmont, where they spent the majority of their 52 years together. Kathy and Gordon raised three children, who were devotedly by her side at her passing.
Kathy worked in various customer service roles throughout her life, including positions at Centennial Lanes, the Moose Lodge, and several retail locations. While she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, bingo, and her trips to Black Hawk, her family was always her primary focus.
Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2018 and was proudly cancer-free as of February 2019. She was later diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2025. She fought a long, hard battle with her family always by her side, supporting her all the way to the end.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Gordon Mauck. She is also survived by her children: Brian Mauck and his wife Audra of Loveland, CO; Sandy Thomas and her husband Richard of Longmont, CO; and Stephanie Sidebottom and her husband Travis of Hutchinson, KS.
She is the cherished grandmother of Isaiah and Sydney Mauck; Donovan Thomas, Kayleigh and her husband Emad Yousif; and Bryanna, Brittany, and Brandon Sidebottom. She is further survived by her two great-grandchildren, Amira and Zaid Yousif.
Kathy is also survived by her brothers, Lynn and Jim Mahan; as well as a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Per Kathy’s request, the family will hold a Celebration of Life to honor her memory. The gathering will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at her daughter’s home, located at 1369 Garden Circle, Longmont, Colorado
