Kathleen Anne Storm, age 67, passed away on Friday June 16, 2023 in Longmont Colorado after a long illness. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she is survived by her husband of 38 years, Stephen Jensen; daughter, Stephanie Jensen; son Nicholas Jensen, daughter-in-law Kara, and grandchildren Charlie and Carter Jensen; sisters, Deborah Storm and Sharon Morina; and nieces and nephews.
Kathy was born in Syracuse, New York. She fulfilled her childhood goal of becoming a scientist after she received a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam, a doctorate in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Arizona, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of California at Berkeley. She was Vice President Laboratory Services at Source Molecular Diagnostics in Boulder, CO.
Kathy was devoted to family and friends. As a child she enjoyed visits with cousins and extended family in Ohio. Later, summers always included vacations to visit her parents, Donna and Howard Storm, in Louisville, Kentucky. Those visits provided an opportunity for extended family to connect and enjoy many fun activities together. Kathy loved exploring the outdoors and sharing adventures camping, hiking, and skiing with Steve, Nick, and Stephanie in the beauty of Colorado. Kathy and Stephanie enjoyed riding mountain bikes together. At home, Kathy was an avid reader and loved having the time to cook and explore new recipes. Over the past few years, one of her greatest joys was spending time with family and caring for her grandchildren with husband Steve.
A memorial service will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel on July 28 at 1 pm.
