Katie Lynn Remington

Katie was born in Aurora, Colorado, where her earliest years were shaped by close friendships and simple joys — riding down the street in the Barbie Jeep she’d wanted for years, alongside her friend Taylor, and falling in love with everything pink along the way. Music found her early, too. She adored the Spice Girls and Britney Spears, whom she was lucky enough to see live in concert, and after moving in with her father, her taste grew to embrace Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and so much more — a soundtrack that stayed with her for the rest of her life.

Katie carried a fierce, almost inherited love for Minnesota, though she never lived there herself — passed down through family, it turned her into a die-hard Vikings fan whose game-day cheering could be heard echoing through the whole neighborhood.

She was, above all, a hard worker. Katie held down a full-time job at Colorado PERA while attending Metropolitan State University full-time, and somewhere in the middle of it all, she met her husband. She stayed at PERA for her entire career, eventually rising to lead a team of employer representatives. There, she became known for one of her standout strengths — “Woo” — the natural ability to draw people in, make them laugh, and make them feel like they belonged. She was the heartbeat of her workplace.

Outside of work, Katie loved nothing more than curling up with a good scare — Halloween and Scream were her favorites, though she’d happily watch any thriller or horror film she could find. And in one of the more unexpected turns of her life, Katie — once deeply afraid of dogs — fell completely and unapologetically in love with one — her dog, Lucy — becoming, without question, the biggest dog mom around.

Katie was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. Living close to her nieces from an early age, she left her mark in the small, tender ways that matter most — sneaking vegetables off their plates so they wouldn’t have to eat them, and filling family camping trips with a laugh so big it could be heard from campsites all around.

But nothing defined Katie more than being a mother. She loved fiercely and put her daughter first in everything she did, and that same warmth, joy, and light lives on in her daughter, Claire Marie Remington.

Katie is survived by her husband, Cody Holland Remington; her daughter, Claire Marie Remington; her mother, Janice Kay Gangl; her stepfather, Mike Peter Gangl; her sister, Jodi Marie Tunheim; her brother, Jason Hammond; and her loving nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Paul Ogden.

A Service Celebrating Katie’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, located at 439 Coffman Street, in Longmont, Colorado.
