

John was born on November 7th, 1940, in Boulder, Colorado to his parents John C. Scogland and Thesta Kennedy Scogland.
He lived on Mapleton Hill in Boulder as a kid where he attended Mapleton elementary and Casey Junior high. He then graduated from Boulder High School. After graduating High School, he went on to attend Mesa College.
John enlisted in the Army, gaining pride and a special love for his very country.
John married the love of his life Connie Scogland on December 18th, 1976, continuing to share their love together until his passing. Together they moved to the Longmont area in 2019 from Boulder.
Over his working career he worked at Rocky Flats for over 30 years then retired in May of 2000. After retirement from Rocky Flats, he went to work for the Colorado Rockies for seven seasons where he made many wonderful memories.
During his free time, he attended church at the First United Methodist to build and strengthen his faith. Along with being a member at Boulder Elks Lodge. He was a lifelong supporter of the University of Colorado athletics; it had a special place in his heart along with his regular golfing trips. There was an even bigger place in John’s heart for his family, he loved and supported them at every moment, there was one person in particular who was wrapped around his finger, his granddaughter Tess. The two shared an extra special bond. John shared many special memories with his family while traveling nationally as well as internationally. His favorite place to travel was Iowa.
John is preceded in death by his parents John and Thesta.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie, Longmont, CO, his sister Quen Martin and her spouse Bill Martin, including their three children, Hartford, CT, his granddaughter Tess of Boston, MA, sister-in-law Janice Brugman, Solon, IA, sister-in-law Beverly Brugman, Prescott, AZ, sister-in-law Elizabeth Brugman, Sun City West, AZ, sister-in-law Sheila Brugman, Mesa, AZ, sister-in-law Patricia Williams, San Jose, CA, stepdaughter Angela and her husband Philip, Longmont, CO.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Johns name to the Buff Club Scholarship Donor Program, and Tru Community Care.
A Celebration of Life for Ken will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501, followed by a reception at 12:00 p.m.
