Kenny was born December 19, 1951 in Oelwein, Iowa to Dirk and Mildred (Potter) Jans. He grew up in Fairbank Iowa and attended Immaculate Conception and Wapsie Valley High School. In high school he played linebacker and earned his most loved nickname Jammer. He graduated in 1971.
After graduating he served in the Army from December 1971 to September 1973 as a medic. He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed traveling in his free time.
Kenny returned to Iowa and worked at John Deers until he moved to Colorado in 1977. He began his life long career in concrete and construction and became a masterful concrete finisher. He was always quick to point out the many jobs he had done all over Boulder County and beyond.
Kenny was an avid sports fan, following all Colorado and Iowa teams and any basketball team his nephew Chris Jans was coaching. He loved the mountains, motorcycles, camping, fishing and hunting. Spending time with his countless friends and family, from his brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews, children and mostly his grandchildren, was of utmost importance to him. He could always put a smile on your face with his jokes and humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Juliann Jans; his daughter, Kasey Jans; his brothers, Joseph Jans, Roger Jans, Patrick Jans; his sister, Marie Rolf; and his parents Dirk and Mildred Jans.
He is survived by his son Durk Jans of Longmont; daughter Alyson (Chris) Robbins of Westminster; grandchildren, Jaci Jans of Longmont, Joanna Robbins of Westminster, Walter Robbins of Westminster and Nathaniel Robbins of Westminster; his brothers Bill (Arlene) Jans of Fairbank, Iowa, Larry (Bev) Jans of Des Moines, Iowa, Ronnie (Mary) Jans of Fairbank, Iowa and Rick (Barb) Jans of Philomath, Oregon.
