

Born on February 27, 1932, in Ramah, Colorado, Ken was the son of Floyd and Martha (Akers) Mitchem. He graduated from Agate High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. On April 11, 1952, he married Donna Parish in Laurel, Mississippi, and together they had three children: Janet, Cynthia, and Joy. They later adopted their grandson, Dorian. Ken was saved August 9, 1956, and his faith was important to him. He truly embodied the spirit of “I am Third”.
Ken worked as a shift supervisor at South Mississippi Electric Power and Morrow Power Plant until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he and Donna relocated from Hattiesburg, MS to Longmont, CO, where they became active members of Life Bridge Christian Church. Ken also had a passion for traveling, reading, and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Martha, as well as his daughter, Cynthia J. Mitchem.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Donna Mitchem; his children: Janet L. Larson of Longmont, CO; Pamela J. Patin (Robert) of New Roads, LA; and Dorian Grant Mitchem. Kenneth is also survived by his brothers, Bill Mitchem of Rangely, CO, John Mitchem of Fort Worth, TX; and his sister, Peggy Mitchem McElwain of Matheson, CO.
His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Aaron Hostetter, Elizabeth Hostetter, Ashley Patin Chenevert, Robert L. Patin, Rachel Larson McClintock, and Hannah Larson Drake; his great-grandchildren: Tristan Millette, Henry Drake, McKenzie Chenevert, and Atticus Drake; and his great-great-grandson, Patrick Millette.
