
Lawrence J. Dolan Jr., of Denver, and a long time Boulder resident, died peacefully on Tuesday January 23, 2007 following a long battle with cancer. He was 85. Larry was born September 14, 1921 in Baggs, Wyoming, the eldest son of Lawrence J. Dolan and Ferne (Reitzel) Dolan. He lived in Colorado and Wyoming, but grew up in Grand Junction where he graduated from Grand Junction High School.He married Mary Elizabeth McDonald on Feb 15, 1942 in Grand Junction. They later divorced. Mr. Dolan was an avid adventurer, traveling the mountains, jungles and rivers of 16 different countries over a fifty-year span.He was proud of his work on the Alaska-Canada Highway during WWII. He worked construction for many years and owned a landscaping business in the 1960s. He enrolled at the University of Colorado and graduated in 1970 at age 49. He then had a long career as a land man where he was known for his hard work and dedication.He is survived by five children and their families, Catherine Boyt of Fort Worth, Jerry & Marilyn Dolan of Houston, Patrick Dolan of Berlin, Connecticut, Greg & Amanda Dolan of Longmont, and Brian & Barbara Dolan of Erie; one brother, Joseph of Denver; a sister, Patricia of Houston; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Elizabeth; a son, Stephen; and brothers, Gerald and Robert.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Church of the Risen Christ, 3060 S.
